SAP AG and Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be
giving an initial preview and case studies of their integrated
software solutions at a joint stand at the IFRA exhibition in
Amsterdam
As part of a development and sales cooperation agreement
for the newspaper and magazine market, the two companies have been
working together for some time on component systems which support
all the processes encountered in media companies. SAP is
concentrating on the commercial components, while Heidelberg is
focusing on media production in the fields of publishing, prepress,
press, postpress and logistics.
Large parts of this production system will be presented by
Heidelberg over the coming year. The components which are already
available and the existing SAP solutions will be on show at IFRA.
These include a browser-based ad solution in the form of an
Internet Kiosk concept with solutions for the online sale of
classified ads. Technical design processes from Heidelberg and
sales processes from SAP Media are seamlessly integrated into this
solution. It is aimed at newspaper publishers, and is ideal for
real estate, car and personal ads.
The browser-based or Windows NT-based solutions on show
provide an early gateway to system modules which will be compatible
with the forthcoming cross-media production system.
The joint venture partners will also be presenting an ad
integration solution which is already being used effectively by
their shared newspaper customer Luxemburger Wort (Imprimerie
Saint-Paul S.A.). It is based on the Linopress system from
Heidelberg, the SAP IS-M/AM solution (ad management) and production
planning components from PPI Media GmbH.
SAP Media, the tried-and-tested software solution for the
media industry, is based on the commercial modules of the SAP R/3
system and integrates media-specific SAP components for tasks such
as advertising management (IS-M/AM) and media sales (IS-M/SD). SAP
Media is part of the new software and service solution
"mySAP.com", the open Internet infrastructure for
collaborative business practices both within companies and in
business-to-business applications.
With this portfolio, SAP and Heidelberg can already supply
comprehensive web-capable applications, in-depth knowledge of the
sector, and complementary services.
