Heidelberg Selects KPG RealTimeProof Technology to Save Time in the Proofing Workflow

05/11/2004

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) incorporates RealTimeProof online proofing technology of Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) in its fully JDF compliant preprint workflow Prinect Printready System

Heidelberg is making "RealTimeProof Partner" technology standard in Prinect Printready's new module "Remote Access." Both sides signed the contract at drupa in Düsseldorf today.

The new component enables Prinect Printready users to enhance their customer relationships: "Print Media Deciders" can now view full resolution proofs online with any type of internet connection, annotate and give approval. Annotations and approvals are automatically forwarded into the Printready workflow. This increases automation in the whole approval cycle. The module will be available by the end of 2004.

"Online and remote proofing has become one of the most requested components of the Prinect Printready Workflow system," said Dr. Peter Leu, Vice President Prinect Preprint Workflow at Heidelberg. "Heidelberg customers expect the best in class and RealTimeProof technology delivers the most advanced capabilities in the category. This technology for online proofing will further drive down costs in the preprint workflow and seamlessly integrate with the process automation of Prinect Printready."

"Prinect Printready customers will enjoy new levels of efficiency and collaboration by using RealTimeProof as part of their approval process," said Yehuda Messinger, General Manager, RealTimeProof Products, KPG. "Heidelberg's selection of RealTimeProof for its Prinect Printready solution is an important step in the advancement of online proofing for customers around the world."

Prinect Printready is part of Heidelberg's integrated workflow management system "Prinect," which is one of the central elements of Heidelberg's drupa presence. Prinect Printready System automates all prepress production stages of a print job. The solution facilitates user control over the entire production process, from prepress, to print, and postpress.

RealTimeProof Partner technology is a web-based, collaborative proofing and approval management solution that can seamlessly integrate into any type of a digital solution. RealTimeProof, a 2003 GATF InterTech Award Winner, optimizes the classic proofing cycle by enabling workflow partners to collaborate online, in real time, on original, full-resolution production files. Based on RealTimeProof image streaming technology, Pixels-On-Demand®, high-resolution files of several gigabytes can be viewed in seconds.
