JDF technology brings creation and print production closer
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) and Adobe Systems
Incorporated will showcase JDF technology in action at drupa 2004
between May 6 and 19 in Düsseldorf. The two foundation members
of the CIP organization and pioneers of JDF are teaming up to
promote JDF demonstrations and presentations based on the open CIP4
standard.
Collaboration in the Heidelberg drupa booth in hall 2 will
feature JDF demonstrations and presentations. The presentations in
the Prinect Center will describe how the XML-based job ticket file
format improves communications between document creators and print
production - and how JDF automates print workflows. The Adobe JDF
concept demonstration will showcase how JDF files can be generated
from the desktop using Adobe Creative Suite, a complete publishing
platform and design environment for creating and publishing content
quickly, easily and efficiently. The JDF information will link to
the content in the PDF document and be used for quoting and
production setup by the print provider. Heidelberg will import this
information into its Prinect Prinance MIS system and Prinect
Printready System, both JDF-enabled, demonstrating a complete
end-to-end JDF and PDF workflow.
"With JDF the communication between the creative
professionals in our industry and the Print providers will get
easier, safer, quicker, and thus more cost effective" said Dr.
Peter Leu Vice President Prinect Preprint Workflow of Heidelberg.
"Heidelberg is fully committed to implement the open JDF
standard and welcomes the opportunity to show a prominent example
of this together with its long term partner Adobe on drupa
2004".
"Adobe and industry innovators such as Heidelberg are
helping drive JDF adoption throughout the creative
industries," said Don Walker, General Manager, publishing
technologies and services group at Adobe. "At drupa 2004,
Adobe is demonstrating a concept of how JDF integrated into Adobe
Creative Suite can radically simplify information exchange between
the applications and systems essential to the graphics arts
industry."
