Restructured Heidelberg Workflow Modular Prinect Solutions Cater to Individual Customer Needs

Prinect is the personalized portfolio of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) for comprehensive workflow management in the printshop

Modular Prinect components allow production planning and control, integrate the business management workflows with the technical workflows and thereby ensure an end-to-end data flow and work flow. In accordance with the three key areas of application for a printshop, Heidelberg has divided its Prinect portfolio into the following three solutions:

1. Prinect Management Solutions
2. Prinect Production Solutions
3. Prinect Color Solutions

Individual Prinect components and modules may therefore be found in a number of Prinect solutions. This is an illustration of the interplay between individual workflow functions within various typical printshop processes and thereby also takes into account the network concept. Heidelberg will unveil its Prinect Solutions in its Prinect Center in Hall 2 at drupa.

Prinect Management Solutions: More success through transparency
Prinect Management Solutions provide extensive opportunities for open CIP4-JDF integration of business management processes into the production workflow - from estimation, planning and online shop floor data collection to invoicing, dispatch and post-calculation. The integration of all levels of operational job processing is an important component of the integrated Prinect workflow. As well as an effective production and information system, up-to-date real-time information is available at all times.

Prinect Production Solutions: Flexible, fast and precise
Short runs and changes right up till the start of printing are issues that affect printshops today. Competitive pressure is also increasing. It is therefore necessary to build more flexibility, speed and reliability into the process, and Prinect Production Solutions are designed to do just this. They provide a direct connection between prepress, press and postpress. Data that has been generated at the prepress stage is therefore used online for presetting the press, the color measuring system and the cutters, folders and saddlestitchers. This speeds up all processes significantly and dramatically reduces makeready times and waste at the machines. A further benefit is the high degree of flexibility, as prepress data can be output on proof, plate or digital printing systems - thanks to end-to-end data formats - with no need for further preparation. This allows quick responses to customer requirements.

Prinect Color Solutions: Color fidelity is essential
Stable inking, fast inking-up and standardized colors for proof and print - these are just some of the requirements that today's printshops have to fulfil.
Prinect Color Solutions help meet these needs. They include a whole range of Prinect products and functions for true-color, cost-effective production in the digital workflow. This considerably enhances quality assurance and helps promote competitiveness and customer loyalty over the long term.

Prinect: Modular and open
All Prinect Solutions can be adapted in a modular way to the individual requirements of any company. Prinect components can thus be added at any time to support the workflow of the particular printshop. It is therefore significant that all Prinect components are based on open standards like PDF (Portable Document Format), CIP4-PPF (Print Production Format) and CIP4-JDF (Job Definition Format) and that they can be integrated into existing hardware and software components (including third-party components).
