Version 3.0 of the Supertrap PDF trapping solution from
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is now available as a
demo version which can be downloaded from the Internet. The free

or PC platforms and supports major Acrobat 5.05 functions such as
Batch Processing and Overprint Preview.
Last year Supertrap 2.0 was awarded the 2001InterTech Award
by the GATF. Supertrap is a powerful production tool for Adobe
Acrobat which performs interactive, object-oriented trapping. It is
the world's first Adobe Acrobat plug-in which traps native PDF
files. Supertrap offers automatic trapping of complete documents or
individual pages using a method which is fast and easy to operate.
Users from all disciplines of the graphic arts industry can benefit
by considerable productivity increases when using Supertrap.
Supertrap Plus is an extension of Supertrap which has been
specially optimized for packaging printing and profits by all of
the same benefits and automation offered by Supertrap. Version 3.0
was launched at the beginning of the year, and offers the following
new functions:
- Supports batch processing with Acrobat 5.05
- Outputs trapped PDF documents to PostScript Level 2 RIP's,
including jobs with special/spot colors
- "Trap all pages" - a new button in the Acrobat menu bar,
which allows all PDF documents to be trapped without opening the
Supertrap dialog box
- Improved settings dialog boxes to give a better overview
- Black frames and/or graphics objects can be set to
"overprint" as a user defined default parameter
- Simplified trapping of complex bitmaps
Supertrap is available for both Mac and Windows PC's.
The system requirements are 128 MB RAM, Adobe Acrobat 5.05
and, as operating system, MacOS 8.6, 9.04 or 9.1 (PPC), Windows 95,
98, ME, NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or XP.
The demo version is fully functional and permits users to
evaluate the performance and print quality of fully trapped PDF's.
However, jobs trapped with the Supertrap demo version are rotated
180º and marked with a large "X" through the center. The free
download is available from the
Download Center .
