Impositioning software is part of the Prinect solution
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) announced at IPEX
that its SignaStation impositioning software is now available in
version 7.0 for Mac OS X. As part of Heidelberg's Prinect
concept, SignaStation now supports the Macintosh platform as well
as PC, a fact that significantly extends the range of solutions
available to the graphic arts industry. The benefits of this highly
convenient software solution for impositioning work and the ability
to process complete print sheets ready for output to filmsetters
and platesetters will be particularly warmly welcomed by printshops
and service providers.
SignaStation imposes PostScript and PDF data and Delta lists
and is part of the all-inclusive Prinect solution. Under Prinect,
Heidelberg brings together workflow components that communicate via
open interfaces such as PPF and (in future) JDF. Prinect allows
"networked print production". "Management",
"prepress", "press" and "postpress"
processes which were isolated in the past can now exchange job
information, thereby ensuring process reliability, flexibility and
transparency in the printshop.
SignaStation in particular helps reduce expensive setup times
and saves on print and finishing costs thanks to its end-to-end
support of the CIP3 print production format. SignaStation software
is the only application that supplies the CIP3 PPF data for
AutoRegister setting in the print process and the presettings for
cutters and folders. The planned JDF extension will bring further
production benefits.
