At IPEX Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will
announce an important extension of its established Prinect workflow
The proven Heidelberg PrepressInterface can now transfer
prepress data to the Sunday 2000 Omnicon control system and to
control systems of M-600 web presses and Speedmaster sheetfed
presses.
The Heidelberg PrepressInterface calculates ink coverage
values and ink zone presettings for the presses from CIP4/PPF data,
thus reducing makeready times and enhancing production data
management capabilities. Heidelberg has already installed more than
2,000 PrepressInterface systems worldwide, which won also the GATF
InterTech Technology Award.
"Many printers operating sheetfed and web presses in one
plant are using two or more separate presetting applications,"
according to Werner Albrecht, President of Heidelberg's Web
Systems Solution Center. "Now Heidelberg has simplified this
process with a streamlined solution for sheetfed and web presses
based on open industry standards."
Dr. Klaus Spiegel, member of the Heidelberg Management Board
and Head of the Sheetfed Solution Center explains: "Our goal
is to assist our customers in increasing the efficiency of their
printing plants through prepress, press, postpress and management
information systems."
Prinect (Prinect = Print & Connect) is the world 's first
Print Media and Graphic Arts software portfolio that allows the
printer to digitally network all the production workflow in
Prepress, Press and Postpress operations and connect them to the
management workflow system of the print shop. It greatly increases
the flexibility and reliability of the production and management
process.
