Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG and CreoScitex announced today
their ongoing commitment to sell, support, and service the Prinergy
workflow management system and Trendsetter thermal platesetter
product line through their respective distribution channels.
Heidelberg and Creo Products Inc. ('Creo') will make the official
transition from a joint-venture relationship to an original
equipment manufacture (OEM) relationship on May 18, 2000.
Creo and Heidelberg have ended the Heidelberg/Creo joint
venture because the two companies were unable to agree on
modifications to the joint-venture agreement necessary as a result
of the CreoScitex merger. During negotiations to define a new OEM
relationship, Heidelberg and Creo representatives renewed their
commitment to the success of the co-developed, PDF-based Prinergy
workflow management system. In addition, the new agreement secures
provisions for the ongoing sales, service, and support of the
Trendsetter product family. Moving ahead, the companies will
continue to cooperate to ensure that the continued development of
each product is optimized and that customers enjoy the same high
level of service and support that they have come to expect.
"We will provide each other with the appropriate support to
make these products a continued success for both companies," said
Sabine Roob, Vice President Product Management Prepress Output at
Heidelberg. "The working relationships that we have developed over
the past three years provide us with an excellent basis for ongoing
cooperation."
"Our teams are working hard together to continue the
development and ongoing success of the Prinergy product family,"
said Judi Hess, Corp VP of Printing Workflow Solutions at
CreoScitex. "Moving forward, our plan is for CreoScitex and
Heidelberg to sell, service, and support Prinergy for printers and
prepress professionals - this is our position and our customers can
count on it."
The Heidelberg/Creo joint venture was first formed in June
1997 to develop, manufacture, and market co- branded
computer-to-plate (CTP) and advanced workflow solutions for the
graphic arts industry.
The Trendsetter and Prinergy product families will be
represented in both the CreoScitex and the Heidelberg stands at
Drupa 2000.
