Linotype Library GmbH is a worldwide leader with its font
library. Over 4,700 high-quality original fonts are available to
PostScript and TrueType font users for Windows PCs and Macintosh
computers. The company, which is part of the Heidelberger Group,
will be presenting not only new fonts, such as Linotype Syntax by
Hans Eduard Meier, but also the innovative Linotype FontExplorer
browser and navigation system. It is available on CD-ROM or on the
Internet and makes it far easier to search, locate and
purchase fonts. The font library also contains comprehensive sets
of special characters, as well as fonts for foreign-language
setting (Eastern European languages, Arabic, etc.). Leading font
artists, such as Rudolf Koch, Hermann Zapf and Adrian Frutiger,
have made their mark on the Linotype Library. There are also works
from talented young designers like Thomas Nagel, Alexander Branczyk
and Gary Munch, one of the winners of the International Type Design
Contest. This unique competition, which is held worldwide by
Linotype Library, ensures that the font library's classical
fonts are continuously enriched with new designs.
Linotype Library also develops fonts and font systems for
special applications,such as the corporate identity/design segment,
or new font families, like Linotype Compatil, that are specifically
for annual reports.In addition to the direct sale of fonts,
Linotype Library also offers its diverse products via licence and
technology partners, such as Adobe and Microsoft, and in the
e-commerce sector in cooperation with Intershop. Linotype Library
will be holding the international "typo [media] 2000" congress from
21 to 23 June in Mainz, the home of Johannes Gutenberg. Drupa
visitors can obtain information on this key event at the stand.
