Heidelberg Expands Range of Products in 70 x
100 Format
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be
showcasing the Speedmaster XL 105 at drupa 2004, which will be the
world premiere of a new series of printing presses for highly
industrialized offset printing capable of attaining speeds of
18,000 sheets per hour. As the first press in an entirely new peak
performance class, the Speedmaster
XL 105 sets new standards in terms of productivity, quality
and cost-effectiveness. This makes it the ideal production unit for
label and packaging printers that handle long runs, a fact made
possible by its high degree of automation, large print format of 74
x 105 centimeter and simple operation. Its unique system for
contact-free sheet transport and innovations in the field of
coating application deliver increased productivity of 30 percent
and more. Further innovative solutions such as "Autoplate
Advanced" for simple and register-accurate plate changing
increase the cost-effectiveness of print shop operations even
further.
With the new Speedmaster XL 105, Heidelberg is expanding its
product portfolio in the 70 x 100 format range, which continues to
be made up of the Preset generation of Speedmaster 102 presses and
the drupa 2004 generation of Speedmaster 102 presses which will be
unveiled at this year's trade show. All series can be
integrated in a single end-to-end digital process via the Prinect
Workflow. This portfolio enables Heidelberg to offer every
printshop customized development opportunities for more
cost-effective production, greater flexibility and additional
features for standing out from the competition.
The Speedmaster XL 105 - the new peak performance class
The newly developed Speedmaster XL 105 has been designed
specifically with customers' future requirements in mind. In
addition to the new feeder and delivery generation, the newly
released Air-Transfer sheet transport system with exceptional
aerodynamic properties provides a sound basis for achieving
reliable and stable production speeds of 18,000 sheets per hour.
The new "Hycolor" (Hy for hydro) integrated
inking/dampening system means that every print job can be printed
in the best possible quality. And adjustable oscillator strokes,
the opportunity to switch between the standard and short inking
units, and remotely adjustable lateral distribution of the inking
form rollers are only a few of the many possibilities that Hycolor
offers. What's more, fast emulsification and reliable inking
and dampening solution feed make the new inking/dampening system
stand out from the rest. This ensures that solids, thick ink
coatings or jobs with low ink consumption can be printed
effectively. There are also a great deal of innova-tions for the
coating unit. All register settings are remote-controlled from the
Prinect CP2000 Center press control system, including printing
pressure setting (both parallel and single-sided are possible) and
decoupling the coating form cylinder with the coating unit
disengaged. The screen roller is changed effciently with the new
automated "Multi Loader System" and make-ready times are
cut even further. The large 74 x 105 centimeter print format opens
up new possibilities for more cost-effective printing by packaging
printshops as they can fit more repeats on the sheet and thus
increase production levels even further.
One Pass Productivity redefined - commercial printing with the
new Speedmaster SM 102
Thanks to their exceptional quality, the long perfecting
presses in the Speedmaster SM 102 series have established
themselves as the undisputed market leader when it comes to
high-quality perfecting. The Preset Plus feeder and delivery, whose
design stems from the Speedmaster XL 105, and further developments
to PerfectJacket technology have enabled further significant
improvements in quality and productivity. The Speedmaster SM 102
therefore continues to represent the high-end of the 70 x
100 range of perfecting presses.
Flexibility and inline finishing for commercial and packaging
printing with the new Speedmaster CD 102
The new generation of Speedmaster CD 102 presses, which
can be seen in public for the first time at drupa 2004, has far
exceeded buyers' high expectations in numerous pilot
installations. Field-test customers have managed to far outstrip
the 10 percent increase in productivity that Heidelberg had
forecast. And although the Preset generation of Speedmaster CD 102
presses will remain available in the future as an excellent
all-round press for flexible commercial printing, the drupa 2004
generation of Speedmaster CD 102 presses with new feeder and
delivery, entirely new design and several coating unit innovations
is the new benchmark at the high-end of the 70 x 100 format
range.
