Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be present-ing
the Speedmaster CD 74 with extended functions at drupa 2004.
The product range now includes models with a coating unit and
a short, space-saving delivery. There are also configurations with
up to eight offset units and two coating units. The delivery of the
Speedmaster CD 74 has been completely redesigned, being based on
the delivery of the new Speedmaster 102 series. One particularly
useful feature is the ability to inspect sheet travel during
operation, which enables optimum setting of the DryStar CAN dryer
and sheet guide plates. The associated settings can be stored for a
specific job and repeated at any time. Laser light barriers prevent
inadvertent access to the delivery during production.
The Speedmaster CD 74 was launched at the end of 2000 and has
set the standards for modern press construction with more than
2,600 printing units installed worldwide. The majority of the
Speedmaster CD 74 presses shipped feature a coating system with
diagonal register as standard. The number of coating systems with a
chambered blade system is increasing all the time. With the special
CD 74 UV model, Heidelberg also supports a fully integrated
solution for UV printing.
The Speedmaster CD 74 processes a wide variety of printing
stock thicknesses from 0.03 millimeter (0.0012 inch) to 0.8
millimeter (0.031 inch) without changing over the transfer
grippers. With high automation as standard, this press is flexible,
easy to operate and ensures high productivity and cost-effective
printing. In order to fully address the particular needs of the
target groups, Heidelberg supplies the Speedmaster CD 74 in two
formats - the packaging format 60.5 x 74 centimeters (23.82 x 29.13
inches) and the commercial printing format 53 x 74 centimeters
(20.87 x 29.13 inches). By using various printing and coating
processes, users can branch out into new markets such as label
printing or special effects. Packaging printers will particularly
appreciate the smooth sheet travel and robustness of this
medium-format press.
The Speedmaster CD 74 can be supplied with four, five, six
and eight printing units and single or double coating units in both
the standard and UV versions. The press also features double-sized
impression cylinders and AirTransfer to ensure reliable transport
of a broad spectrum of printing stocks, whether it be paper, board
or plastic foil. High-speed inking units, Alcolor Vario dampening
systems, automatic washup devices, Autoplate for automatic plate
changing and the CP2000 Center are further key features of this
series. Presetting the Preset feeder and delivery enables the
elements of the sheet brake in the delivery to be adjusted
laterally using a motor drive.
