Königsdruck, Berlin, Installs the World's First Speedmaster CD 74 with Double Coating Unit and Two Drying Units

A whole range of coatings for customers with specialist
requirements
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) recently installed the world's first Speedmaster CD 74 in the new UV version with double coating unit and two drying units at Königsdruck Printmedien und digitale Dienste GmbH in Berlin. This innovative new press was launched at the "Special Effects" Inforum in Wiesloch in October 2002. It combines conventional offset printing with inline UV coating. It is also ideal for special applications such as gold and silver coatings with additional protective coating, printing with pearly luster pigments and processing scratchcard, blister-pack or scented coatings. As well as conventional inks, it also processes UV and hybrid inks. A press with a similar configuration to the Speedmaster CD 74 with double coating unit and drying unit has already been in use at a label printer's in Asia for approximately one year.
"This new technology also opens up all sorts of new design possibilities", explains Managing Director Olaf König. "We are using it to give our customers a clear competitive edge." Königsdruck offers its customers comprehensive offset and digital printing services using the latest printing technology from Heidelberg. The company moved to Berlin at the same time as making the largest investment in its history.
"Our customers want their products produced faster and faster and expect the quality to be outstanding," says Olaf König. High levels of automation and standardized production workflows help the company to satisfy its customers' needs. What's more, when processes such as coating are integrated in the press, as is the case with the new Speedmaster CD 74 with double coating unit, this saves on material and costs. The new Speedmaster CD 74 therefore does full justice to the Königsdruck motto "There's nothing we can't do!" The printshop is now also able to meet even the most specialist customer needs efficiently and profitably.
