Following the tremendous success of the first Winter University
2004 organized by the Print Media Academy (PMA) of Heidelberger
Druckmaschinen AG in Dubai, next year will see the Winter
University continued in Florida.
International managers will meet up on February 5, 2005
in South Beach to reinforce their practical management expertise as
regards business strategies, cutting-edge production processes and
sales in print media businesses. Studying and working together
encourages the development of networks linking print media managers
from all over the world and paving the way for future exchanges of
information and ideas.
The program, which was developed in collaboration with
renowned printing experts from the leading German universities, the
University of Wuppertal, Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences
and Ferris State University, Michigan, features a well-rounded
range of themes. These include insights into growth opportunities,
possibilities for boosting profitability, background information on
using Management Information Systems (MIS), an introduction to
financial analysis techniques for Return on Investment (ROI)
planning, and liquidity management. Participants will also learn
how to draw up business plans and benefit from insights into the
latest marketing and case studies.
"The Winter University provides managers in the print
media industry with an exceptional opportunity to extend their
expertise on an international level, to exchange experiences with
others and to establish new valuable contacts", states Bernd
Schopp, Head of the Print Media Academy in Heidelberg.
Well-rounded program caters to a wide range of interests
Alongside the business management-focussed content, the
speakers at the Winter University 2005 will also provide a
comprehensive update on cutting-edge printing technology.
Participants will for example learn the advantages which can be
gained from integrated workflow management systems in print media
production and how they can fully exploit the potential of file
formats such as PDF and JDF and optimized Print Color Management.
Just as at drupa 2004, the subject of "networked print
shops" is sure to fuel intensive discussion at the Winter
University 2005. In addition, new materials will be showcased which
represent a basis for developing innovative products enabling
sustained differentiation from the competition. A stimulating
program of activities will help participants recharge their
batteries between classes, with team events and site visits to
local print shops sure to provide a change of scenery and some
fascinating insights. There will also be time in the evenings for
sampling Miami's special atmosphere, visiting attractions around
the city, or enjoying the famed beaches.
Following on from the Winter University, the Print Media
Academy's Summer University will take place for the fourth time
in Heidelberg in mid-July 2005. The Summer University traditionally
focuses more on business management topics.
Both the Winter University and the Summer University are
aimed exclusively at management and production executives from the
print media industry. Several years of experience in a corporate
environment is absolutely essential.
