IDAB WAMAC - All the Way

04/01/2004

IDAB WAMAC, a company within Heidelberg Postpress, is a leading supplier of mailroom equipment and automated mailroom system for the news-
paper printing industry world-
wide

IDAB WAMAC designs and manu-
factures customised solutions for optimising the mailroom operations. Each mailroom system is unique as each newspaper printing plant is unique and has unique requirements. At Drupa we will even go a step further and include the distribution part of conveying the news to the reader.

At drupa, IDAB WAMAC will show a solution for integration of the distribution with the mailroom operation in order to get control of the total process from folder to reader.

The powerful Mailroom control and information system WNC v5, allows integration with subscriber systems and distribution systems from other suppliers. By utilising all tools in the WNC v5, the mailroom operation can be run in a optimised way both capacity wise and cost wise. The distribution plan and production plan can be simulated and changes in the orders and order sequence can be done up till the very moment a bundle is being produced in order to minimise production and distribution costs.

At Drupa we will also exhibit an important part of a mailroom system, stacker TS 800 for high speed, accurate bundling together with the high speed plastic wrapper PWA 650 v2. The stacker TS 800 produces programmed bundles down to one single copy at a press speed of up to 90,000 cph and the plastic wrapper handles up to 35 bundles per minute. Using high speed bundling lines less equipment and less manning are needed to handle the output from the printing press and the production cost is lowered.

Finally we will show the mobile storage system MLS for fully automatic buffering and supplement storage at maximum press speed. The MLS system is a unique concept for storing printed copies. The copy stream from the press are divided in batches and stored in mobile pallets instead of being winded up on traditional reels. The gentle handling of the printed products prevents wrinkling, smearing and set off. The pallets are handled fully automatically on roller conveyors or semi-automatically with standard forklifts.
