Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be unveiling the
new Diana X 115 at drupa 2008. The new design feature of this
folder gluer is its open frame design. It processes high-quality,
complex folding cartons in both long and short runs, and its
modular design boosts the potential for customization, making it
the ideal solution for an almost limitless range of cartons. Its
working width is 115 centimeters (45.28 inches). The Diana
X 115 has been designed for professional folding
carton processors. It processes board for folding cartons with
grammages ranging from 200-900 grams per square meter and N, F, E,
and B flute corrugated board. Over 200,000 cartons can be processed
per hour at speeds of up to 650 meters (2,130 feet) per minute.
This high capacity is actively supported by the Diana Feeder and
the new Diana Packer.
What is more, fully automatic changeover cuts makeready times
considerably. Further advantages include maintenance-free servo
drive technology, a state-of the-art safety concept with light
grids, and a new roller bar and transportation concept that
increases flexibility and accelerates adjustment. A new ejector
system means that all faulty carton types can be removed in travel
direction.
The completely new collapsible module has been designed
specifically for the production of collapsible and lockbottom
cartons. As far fewer components have to be changed over, the
makeready times for individual carton types have been cut by up to
85 percent compared to Diana Pro.
The ultimate performance coupled with the finest quality and
reliability in production
The absolute fold lengths of 3.5 meters (137.8 inches) in
the prefolder and 3.7 meters (145.67 inches) in the folding section
enable high production speeds of up to 650 meters per minute and
ensure outstanding quality. The new ejector module removes faulty
cartons in the travel direction when the machine is operating at
full speed and ensures continuous error-free production. The Diana
X 115 recognizes all carton types, from the smallest cartons used
in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors to large special
cartons.
Modular design for outstanding flexibility
Various modules can be used to customize the Diana X 115 for
specific requirements. Pneumatically lifted side walls and feed
gates ensure rapid makeready times at the feeder. The blank
alignment module behind the new feeder is supplied as standard with
the Diana X 115.
When processing lockbottom cartons, all cross folds in the
cartons are made in the lockbottom module. The overall length of
the prefolder remains unaltered throughout this process, which
ensures short makeready times. Moreover, format parts no longer
need to be installed and removed in the prefolder.
The optional rotary module rotates cartons by 180 degrees,
enabling them to be processed in one pass instead of two.
A pressing module can be integrated into the device in a
variety of ways. This module uses defined pressure to press crease
lines in the cartons into their fold position and increases form
stability significantly.
A special feature of the Diana X 115 is that it can also
process very small cartons with a belt edge folding system. Even
open blanks in formats up to 45 millimeters (1.77 inches) can be
folded effectively. To do this, the lower center carrier is simply
moved away to the side.
The Diana X 115 has three different positioning
systems - AUTOset, DIGIset, and MANUset - which are used
for fully automatic, semi-automatic, and manual setup respectively.
Customers can choose between a short and long delivery
solution depending on production speed and material thickness.
