Stahlfolder TH/KH folders offer exceptional folding quality
drupa 2004 marks the sales launch of a new generation of
folders - the Stahlfolder TH and KH - from Heidelberger
Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). The Stahlfolder TH is a
buckle-plate folder, available in widths of 56, 66 and 82
centimeters. The Stahlfolder KH combination folders, which feature
a cross-fold module, come in working widths of 56, 66 and 78
centimeters. Both of these folders offer shorter makeready times
thanks to a whole raft of automation components and deliver
increased efficiency due to their comprehensive integration in the
workflow. The modular design concept means various applications can
be chosen to suit individual requirements. As with any modular
system, the customer can decide exactly what he needs and retrofit
individual components as required. That is why it is an investment
which can cope with future developments and adapt to suit changing
requirements. The all-new TH/KH folders are therefore ideally
suited to small and midsize print shops, industrial print shops and
finishing specialists. They come with more opportunities than ever
before for print shops to specialize and stand out from the
competition. The Flexomailer, which is based on the new Stahlfolder
TH with the appropriate add-on modules for punching, perforating,
gluers and dispensing units, enables inline production of
labor-intensive mailings, for example.
What is more, the new generation of folders also looks good
thanks to its new design which offers user-friendly, ergonomic
operation. The machine can be controlled by a touchscreen monitor
using symbols that are easy to pick up and also feature on the
Printmaster and Speedmaster models. The automatic learning mode
helps guide the operator through the process of setting up a new
job. And a comfort pack for electronically controlled makeready
mode is also available.
Complete integration of the folders in production and
management workflows ensures maximum transparency during job
throughput. This means that, once created, production data can be
utilized throughout the entire process. This also generates
additional potential for making savings and increases process
reliability at the same time.
The new generation of folders offers high levels of
automation. During the development stage, the developers focused
their attention on all the functions which can cut makeready times
and make production easier. The result was intelligent, detailed
solutions such as the air stream table - an inclined conveyor table
(without roller balls) which utilizes suction air to control and
align sheets. This new concept ensures that sheets are not marked
during transport and can process a broad range of paper including
thin paper. Folding quality can also be fine-tuned during ongoing
production with the new combination buckle plates. All of these
features make a huge contribution to cutting the cost of makeready
times.
Optional modules offer further possibilities for lowering
makeready costs, for instance, the motor-driven folding roller
adjustment which uses a paper sample to set the folding rollers
automatically for a particular job. Existing settings can then be
stored for repeat jobs. And the new, optional slitter shaft lift
improves access to all slitter shaft components, thereby enabling
ergonomic setup.
The new Extra Grip folding rollers are a further key feature
which ensure high levels of quality. More sensitive papers can be
processed with ease and paper transport is improved significantly
by the greater proportion of polyurethane.
