05/16/2012

  • With a maximum sheet format of 605 x 815 mm (23.82 x 32.09 in), the Varimatrix 82 CS is the perfect complement to a recently installed Speedmaster XL 75
  • New die-cutter impresses with short makeready times, robust machine concept and fast and simple job changes
  • Company is extending its die-cutting division: The Varimatrix 82 CS processes a broad range of different materials
Directly subsequent to drupa 2012, the wordwide first Varimatrix 82 CS of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be installed at D.O.G. GmbH DIGITAL-OFFSET GASS (D.O.G. GmbH) in Darmstadt, Germany. Heidelberg presents the "little sister" of the successful Varimatrix 105 CS in the format 50 x 70 for the first time at drupa 2012.

Short makeready times, high productivity and top quality as well as production reliability were main factors in developing the Varimatrix 82 CS

The Varimatrix 82 CS die cutter (CS stands for cutting and stripping) with speeds of up to 8,000 sheets per hour and a high cutting force, increases productivity and combines significant added value in the finishing process with low investment costs.

With a maximum sheet format of 605 x 815 mm (23.82 x 32.09 in), the Varimatrix 82 CS is the perfect complement to a Speedmaster XL 75. D.O.G GmbH has recently installed a Speedmaster XL 75 and plans to expand its die-cutting division in the next step. The company's Managing Director and founder Johann Gass is particularly impressed with the fast makeready times and the robust machine concept of the Varimatrix 82 CS. What's more, the personal and competent consulting by Heidelberg was another decisive factor. Since safety at work is very important to D.O.G. GmbH, the GS certification (tested for safety) was also crucial for the decision to invest in the Varimatrix 82 CS.

About D.O.G. GmbH
Principles of environmental protection are deeply seated in the company's policy. The Speedmaster XL 75 and the Varimatrix 82 CS are both carbon neutral. The company, which has been certified to DIN EN ISO 14001 since 2007, had installed a photovoltaic system in 2010 to deliver clean power with its around 200 modules.

D.O.G. GmbH, founded in 1996 as continuation of a prepress company, mainly manufactures package inserts, folding cartons with Braille and labelling, booklets, leaflets and brochures with a workforce of around 60 for leading pharmaceutical and cosmetics enterprises.

So far, short runs and folding cartons have been die-cut with a Heidelberg platen and a Heidelberg cylinder. Thin grammages, e.g. for package inserts, are being manufactured with two Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 102 presses with CutStar sheeter.
