Family-run print shops - small companies making it big!
SMEs are still the backbone of the international print media industry. Even though they often have few employees - many companies have a workforce that does not even amount to two-digit, let alone three-digit, figures - these companies produce the majority of the print products manufactured across the globe. The latest issue of the customer magazine published by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) looks at the determination of some of these "Davids." For example, the authors of Heidelberg News reveal how the six colleagues at AquaPrint in Bern, Switzerland, became the top Swiss company specializing in postcard production. They also discover why the staff of nine at Digital Design in Schwerin, Germany, have no problems doing the work of twelve, how the team of eleven at Sikora Druck in Offenburg, Germany, has built up a reputation for perfect binding, and why the 22 workers at Unigrafica favor "XL" of all things in fashion-conscious Italy.
What is more, the magazine showcases the new Suprasetter platesetter A52/A74, explains how operators can customize the Heidelberg Printmaster PM 52, and gives an insight into the benefits of the revolutionary Anicolor short inking unit.
Last but not least, the authors take readers on a journey through the mountain region around Colorado Printing, let them share in the second part of a specialist discussion focusing on "Training in the printing industry," and highlight two exemplary social projects in Brazil and Germany.
