Quickmaster DI 46-4 Pro with New Imaging Technology

04/01/2004

Improved print quality with ProSpot
At drupa 2004 in Dusseldorf, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be presenting the Quickmaster DI 46-4 Pro digital offset press with Presstek's new ProSpot imaging technology. This makes it possible to further enhance the print quality of the press. Several thousand DI units have already been installed worldwide making it the market leader in its class on the short-run color market.

ProSpot - optimum laser spot size and harmonious screen vignettes
"The laser spot which we generate with the new ProSpot imaging technology has an optimal size in relation to the dot and a round, sharp shape", explains Andreas Forer, Head of Imaging Systems Product Management at Heidelberg. "This enables the delivery of outstanding print results - particularly with the 80 l/cm screen (200 lpi) produced by Heidelberg Irrational Screening (IS Classic)", continues Forer. Screen vignettes, especially in the highlight ranges, have a harmonious appearance, the print image becomes even more detailed and fine negative text is clear and sharp in the printout. The new technology can be combined with all the plate materials available for the QM DI Pro. Several customers have already carried out extensive field tests involving ProSpot and have been impressed with the results. Visitors to drupa will be able to discover the benefits of the new technology in a series of print job demonstrations.

Fully digital workflow with Prinect MetaDimension
Another new feature of the Quickmaster DI Pro is the Raster Image Processor (RIP), which, in conjunction with Prinect MetaDimension, represents state-of-the-art technology in the RIP/workflow sector. This RIP system offers higher productivity thanks to the PDF-based software, flexibility as a result of its modular design and openness to different input formats. Prinect MetaDimension can be integrated into existing workflows, offers a range of InRIP functions such as trapping and enables direct control of almost all the proofing systems available on the market. Prinect MetaDimension also features Heidelberg screening technology and, thanks to its architecture, can be combined with JDF-based workflows such as Prinect Printready.

Remote Service - low downtime, high productivity
A further innovation of the Quickmaster DI Pro is the inclusion of Remote Service functionality for RIP and press as standard. This enables Heidelberg experts to carry out a service check of the DI system online and filter out any faults or errors at an early stage. The customer benefits from considerably reduced downtime and the resultant increased press productivity.

"Heidelberg's enhanced Quickmaster DI Pro makes it possible for users on the short-run color market to retain and even strengthen their competitive edge. This press offers optimum print quality, a powerful workflow, a precise suction-tape feeder, impressive cost-effectiveness thanks to functions such as the smart spooling mechanism and plate material selection, proven press quality and ease of servicing. All in all, the Quickmaster DI Pro is a press which is unsurpassed in its class", concludes Forer.
