Readers of the "Digital Output" newspaper award
Heidelberg first place
The result of a survey recently carried out by the
American newspaper Digital Output on the familiarity of brand names
has shown that Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is the
most widely-recognized company name in digital printing.
The respondents particularly recognized Heidelberg's
leading role as a supplier of solutions for the digital print
industry. Nearly a third of the respondents - 31.64 percent -
nominated Heidelberg as the most significant manufacturer in this
sector. The world market leader for printing and publishing
solutions supplies the high-volume black/white Digimaster 9110
digital printing system, the Quickmaster DI 46-4 digital offset
press for the A3 format class and the Speedmaster 74 DI for A2
format work. At drupa 2000, Heidelberg will be introducing the
fully-digital NexPress color press which it has developed jointly
with Kodak.
But the statistics show more than just the familiarity of the
Heidelberg brand. A ten percentage point lead over the runner
up and an increase of four percentage points in its own
familiarity level confirm the company's excellent position on
this dynamic market of the future. The same respondents specified
price, quality and reliability as the most important factors when
making a major purchasing decision.
The Digital Output survey is based on an e-poll of 6,000
Digital Output readers, where the respondents were asked to name
three manufacturers for various products.
"Heidelberg is the top dog. The survey makes that
clear," states Digital Output's publisher, Doug Apelian.
"The survey sends a clear message to customers about who has
the leading role. Companies who have created a powerful brand name
over the years have an easier time when bringing new products onto
the market."
And so the success story of the Quickmaster DI 46-4
continues… Introduced at drupa 1995, over 1,300 presses have
since been installed. In 1999, it was voted Product of the Year by
the readers of In-Plant Printer magazine and by the Print Image
Association. Its speed, cost-efficiency and quality make the
Quickmaster DI 46-4 a press with excellent productivity. According
to the independent American market research institute CAP Venture,
the Quickmaster DI 46-4 gives a gross return 13 percent above
the industry average.
