Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) recently installed the
world's first Suprasetter for the new large format. The first
company to use this machine is Brüder Glöckler GmbH &
Co KG
(www.gloeckler.co.at),
based in Wöllersdorf near Vienna. "I saw the new
Suprasetter 162 at drupa in Düsseldorf. For me as a
large-format printer, it was one of the show's highlights. This
initial impression has been confirmed by our first experiences of
actually using the system. We are particularly impressed by the
plate imaging, overall productivity and reliability," comments
Gustav Glöckler, Managing Director of Brüder
Glöckler GmbH & Co KG.
At drupa, Heidelberg presented the new Suprasetter 145, 162
and 190 models. The new systems are used in conjunction with the
Speedmaster XL 145 and XL 162 and can also supply plates for other
presses up to a sheet width of 190 centimeters (74.80 inches). The
platesetters are available with throughput speeds of up to 35
plates per hour, with a resolution of either 2,540 or 2,400 dpi as
required. The six cassettes of the plate loading unit enable up to
600 plates in as many as six different formats to be loaded fully
automatically. The new system can be fully integrated into the
Prinect print shop workflow.
Like all other Suprasetter models, the new systems for the
large format have been developed in-house by Heidelberg. As with
the conventional models, production takes place at the company's
main plant in Wiesloch-Walldorf.
"Since the Suprasetter series was launched in 2004, its
thermal laser technology has proved highly effective and has
undergone further development on an ongoing basis, ensuring
reliable, stable processes and high imaging quality. The new models
ensure our customers enjoy the same quality of cutting-edge
technology for the new large format at prepress as they do at the
press stage," explains Dr. Jürgen Rautert, Director of
Sales at Heidelberg.
The Suprasetter 162 now in use at Brüder Glöckler
is a pre-series model. Series production is set to begin in the
fourth quarter of 2008.
