Mainstream Concept Secures Success of Future-Focused Solutions

08/29/2003
Heidelberg demonstrates new opportunities for newspaper production at IfraExpo in Leipzig

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be exhibiting its entire spectrum of solutions for efficient, state-of-the-art newspaper production in Hall 2, booth 2 I, 170, at this year's IfraExpo in Leipzig (October 13-16, 2003). The Mainstream, a newspaper rotary press in 1x4 format with gapless blankets launched on the market by Heidelberg in 2000, has now firmly established itself in the newspaper industry. Since its launch, a whole range of detailed solutions have been integrated into the press, giving customers the opportunity for made-to-measure production.

In order to provide its customers with future-focused solutions, Heidelberg took over IdabWamac, the mailroom products company, last year. Heidelberg is now in a position to offer complete solutions for newspaper publishers and printshops ranging from the splicer right through to the finished end product. As early as the planning phase, the systems can be fine-tuned to the customer's specific requirements. IdabWamac will be exhibiting its products directly next to the Heidelberg booth in Hall 2, booth 2 I, 270.

Process optimization ensures users profit during day-to-day operation. These customized concepts help the newspaper publisher sharpen his competitive edge and meet the changed demands of advertising customers and readers. "The Mainstream demonstrates our ability to develop a market concept that can react extremely flexibly to our customers' different requirements in 1x4 format", explains Werner Albrecht, head of newspaper business and web offset printing at Heidelberg.

Heidelberg will be showcasing these diverse newspaper production applications at this year's IfraExpo. Heidelberg's successful startup and production phases in the UK, France and North America will also be documented.
