Financial Times Germany and Heidelberg Ensure Up-to-the-Minute News at drupa

05/17/2000

Newsletter updated several times daily - with world news and drupa news

The Financial Times Germany will be producing a drupa newsletter for visitors to drupa, the world's largest exhibition for the printing and publishing industry, over the period 18-31 May. For this purpose, the newspaper has set up its own office at the Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) stand in Hall 2. Two editors from the newspaper will report daily about the latest international and financial news. The four-page newsletter will be rounded off by news items from the printing industry's largest exhibition.

The newsletter will start printing from noon onwards on a Heidelberg Digimaster 9110, a digital black/white printing system. The press' flexibility means that even the latest messages can be incorporated into the newsletter within a matter of minutes. The editors will be using Linopress as their editorial system. Linopress is also used to produce the Financial Times Germany. Heidelberg will distribute the information in Halls 1, 2 and 5 as well as in the outside pavilion and the company's VIP area.

The Financial Times Germany, one of the most ambitious media projects of the latest time, has been on the market since February 21. This business and financial newspaper provides daily stock market quotations and is unique in its depth of reporting and analytical expertise. It provides its readers with a 24-hour service delivering information through its newspaper, website and interactive services. At drupa it will provide yet another facet in the form of a digital newsletter published in cooperation with Heidelberg.

The Digimaster 9110 augments Heidelberg's portfolio of solutions by offering fully digitized black/white printing for short and personalized runs. Producing the newsletter in this way shows the possibilities of the system in being able to print up-to-the-minute information quickly, easily and in exceptional quality whenever required. Heidelberg has given itself the goal of reaching a 30 percent share of this market segment within the next five years. According to analysts at CAP Ventures, the international print-on-demand market for black/white presses will triple to around 18 billion Dollar by the year 2002.
