Heidelberg Digital L.L.C. today announced that it has reached a
technology development agreement with Objectif Lune, a leader in
variable data printing software for digital printing environments.
The agreement clears the way for Heidelberg manufactured
digital high-volume network imaging systems (such as the Heidelberg
Digimaster 9110) to be optionally configured with Objectif
Lune's PlanetPress variable data printing software.
"To offer state-of-the-art digital printing hardware is
only part of the picture," commented Wolfgang Pfizenmaier,
Heidelberg Digital CEO. "Optimizing workflow performance is
the name of the game; therefore, our mandate is to give customers
open architecture and freedom to choose platforms that fit their
own workflow models. This agreement with Objectif Lune adds yet
another dimension to our growing range of open solutions."
PlanetPress is an open system variable data printing tool,
enabling legacy applications to work across many manufacturers'
products. This key feature frees users from proprietary printing
systems, bolstering Heidelberg's appeal to customers who may
already have an installed base of competing digital products.
"The tight integration of PlanetPress with
Heidelberg's family of high speed production cut sheet printers
give users unsurpassed application development power, while being
remarkably easy to use," stated Howard Silverstein, President
of Objectif Lune USA.
