Heidelberg's Worldwide Sales Organization Will Market New Digital Color Solution NexPress 2100

05/17/2000

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) said today that it will market the NexPress 2100 through its worldwide distribu- tion network as NexPress Solutions LLC announces the industry's first production-quality digital color press.

Heidelberg described the NexPress 2100 digital production color press as central to its comprehensive digital-imaging strategy, and stated that the new product will help drive digital color printing solutions to the mass market. Heidelberg will target customers in the commercial printing and digital trade services segments.

"Bringing this breakthrough solution to the market reinforces our strategy to be the world's leading provider of all types of printing solutions, including digital color," said Bernhard Schreier, Chairman of the Management Board at Heidelberg. "The impending explosion of on-demand and customized printing is a key driver in the enormous opportunity we see in digital color printing, and the NexPress 2100 will enable us to seize that opportunity."

Schreier added that the NexPress announcement enables Heidelberg to provide a high-quality digital color printing solution that meets its customers' needs on several levels, including:

  • Outstanding reliability
  • Consistent quality
  • Fair price structure
  • Added value through customization and variable-data printing capabilities
"The NexPress 2100 was designed with the printing customer's needs in mind, and we believe there is no better company or sales force to bring this new solution to the market than Heidelberg," said Venkat Purushotham, president of NexPress.

The new NexPress 2100 digital production color press is designed to take advantage of the enormous growth potential in digital color printing. Its rugged, press-like design delivers unprecedented uptime and reliability in a digital color printing solution. The NexPress 2100 meets the needs of existing applications, such as short-run color and quick-turnaround printing. It also enables new printing services, such as one-to-one marketing; on-demand color; personalized and customized printing; and remote or Internet printing.

NexPress Solutions LLC is a joint venture of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg), the world's largest solutions provider for the printing and publishing industry, and Eastman Kodak Company, a world leader in imaging and digital color technology. The NexPress 2100 will carry both the Heidelberg and Kodak brands, which are recognized and trusted worldwide.
