Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is demonstrating to
customers at drupa 2008 how job changes can be cut to around three
minutes from the final OK sheet of the previous job to the first OK
sheet of the following one, including a paper change. These reduced
makeready times result from the perfect interplay of four key
innovations:
- Heidelberg perfecting technology based on the highly
automated XL platform
- The new Prinect Press Center control station with
Intellistart
- The AutoPlate XL simultaneous plate changer
- Prinect Inpress Control - the fully integrated inline
measuring system for spectrophotometric color control combined
with automatic register control.
Heidelberg is demonstrating the job change in parallel on two
long perfectors - a Speedmaster XL 105 with ten printing units and
a Speedmaster XL 75 with ten printing units and an additional
coating unit. The end product is one of two back-stitched brochures
selected during the demonstration, which takes place several times
each day in Hall 1 in the "One Pass Productivity" area.
"Heidelberg is setting the industry benchmark with
makeready times of three minutes for standard print jobs. This
includes the entire setup process - from the final sheet of a given
job to the first measured OK sheet of the following one. The
Heidelberg presentation is a must for print shops with a business
model based on maximum productivity coupled with high quality. We
will be happy to calculate the possible return on investment for
anyone who is interested in buying one of our presses. I firmly
believe that no-one else can offer a better price-performance
ratio," stated Dr. Jürgen Rautert, a Member of the
Heidelberg Management Board who will also be responsible for sales
management at the company from July 1, 2008.
