More visitors from abroad
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) has enjoyed a
successful CeBIT 2003 in Hanover. The fact that Heidelberg's
presentation focused on comprehensive digital solutions was
received with keen interest by visitors to the booth. The company
sold numerous NexPress 2100, Digimaster and Quickmaster DI 46-4 Pro
units. "Despite the difficult economic situation, we were able
to meet our trade show targets. This year's CeBIT in Hanover
was a platform where we could demonstrate our market-leading
expertise in the digital printing sector", says Holger
Reichardt, Board Member for Marketing, Sales and Service at
Heidelberg.
The integrated print job demonstration in partnership with
travel specialist Thomas Cook prompted especially keen interest
from booth visitors. The application, which vividly demonstrated
the connection between interactive television and print media, drew
several thousand visitors to the Heidelberg booth. On TV screens,
the visitors were able to put together their own personalized
holiday brochure which was then printed out on the NexPress 2100 as
a personalized four-color brochure and sent to the visitor's
house.
"This application allowed us to illustrate to a wide
audience how television can be personalized with the support of
digital printing, thereby improving communication between providers
and customers", explains Holger Reichardt.
Visitors were also very impressed by the first unveiling in
Germany of the Probinder, the world's first variable wire-comb
binder which was exhibited as an inline solution linked to a
Digimaster 9150i. Most people who came to the Heidelberg booth
wanted information about profitable applications in digital color
printing, which meant that the two NexPress 2100 machines on
display were constantly besieged by visitors. Prinect Systemhaus,
which presented comprehensive workflow solutions and was appearing
at CeBIT for the second time, also proved to be a magnet for
visitors, along with the DataXceed output management solution for
high-volume black/white printing in computer centers in combination
with a Digimaster 9110 / 9150i.
Heidelberg is very pleased with its own visitor numbers.
Because most of its visitors were industry specialists, the company
was barely affected by the general shortfall in visitors compared
with last year. The number of foreign industry specialists at the
Heidelberg booth was slightly up on 2002 (by 20 percent).
