Heidelberg at Print in Chicago: Now With Complete Digital Printing Portfolio

09/05/2001
NexPress 2100 sales launch/Debut as solution provider

At Print 01, the world's largest trade fair for the print media industry this year, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) focuses on digital print solutions. With the sales launch of the NexPress 2100, the digital color press from the joint venture with Kodak, Heidelberg is now offering its full range of digital print products - both black & white and color - exclusively through its own sales channel.

At the company press conference in Chicago, Bernhard Schreier, Chairman of the Management Board of Heidelberg, stressed the significance of this important move on what is a major growth market. "We want to take a leading role in the digital market segment," he explained.

The company also launched a new version of the Quickmaster DI 46-4 Pro at Print. 1,600 of these units have already been installed worldwide. The QM DI 46-4 combines Direct Imaging technology with digital color printing and rounds off Heidelberg's professional short-run color portfolio.

For Heidelberg, Print 01 is a logical continuation from Drupa 2000, where it took its first successful steps as a solutions provider. The world market leader believes it is especially important, particularly in difficult economic times, to provide a comprehensive advice service and to deliver tailor-made concepts for each market segment. The Prinect series plays a key role in this by providing solutions for technical and commercial workflows in the production process. The Prinance management information system is another important innovation and forms the business management component in Prinect. Prinect is the umbrella term for all Heidelberg's digital workflow components. These are based on open standards such as PPF (Print Production Format) and JDF (Job Definition Format).

The portfolio is rounded off with the new Prosetter CtP imagesetter series with violet technology.
