Professor Helmut Kipphan Receives TAGA Honors Award 2001

Award for outstanding achieve- ments in the graphic arts industry

At its annual conference in San Diego (California), the "Technical Associ- ation of the Graphic Arts" (TAGA) awarded Professor Helmut Kipphan, Head of Advanced and Future Technologis at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, the "TAGA Honors Award 2001" for special achievements in the graphic arts industry. This award constitutes the highest accolade in the industry for technology and scientific development and innovation.

Kipphan has been working in various departments of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG for 23 years. During this time he has worked with a variety of partners to develop new technologies and equipment for making the production of print media more cost-effective and to improve quality. His work has included instrumentation and control equipment for color and register and presetting systems for the computer print control system. A total of over 30 patents have been granted as a result of these develop- ments. Numerous studies and developments, particularly in the field of digital printing and new print processes, have come about under Kipphan's supervision.

TAGA is an international organization comprising members from all branches of the graphic arts industry. Its goal is to report on the latest research results and new technologies in the graphic arts industry and to foster the industry's progress. It is headquartered in Rochester in the State of New York and has been presenting the "Honors Award" since 1976, mainly to experts from the USA. Kipphan is the 62nd award winner.
