Prizes awarded in Frankfurt
The 1999/2000 Environmental Report published by
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) has won first place in
the German Environmental Reporting Awards. A total of 65 top German
companies took part in the competition which was organized by the
German Chamber of Auditors. The prizes will be awarded
on March 19 by the President of the Chamber of Auditors, Dr.
Adalbert Wahl, and the Chairman of the Chamber's Advisory Board,
Dr. Burkhard Hense, at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel in
Frankfurt.
The objective of this annual competition is to reward the
most informative and innovative environmental reporting by German
companies. The key assessment criteria include the entrant's
approach to environmental policy as a whole, the ecological aspects
of products and services, the financial issues involved in
environmental protection, and the credibility, stringency and
visual appearance of the report.
"Environmental protection has long been held in high esteem
at Heidelberg. The numerous improvements made in products and
production processes over recent years are naturally also reflected
in our environmental report. But you can also expect Heidelberg to
set new standards in environmental management in the future too,"
states Dr. Klaus Spiegel, Technology Director at Heidelberg.
In winning first place in this national competition,
Heidelberg has also qualified for the European Environmental
Reporting Award. The winner will be announced on April 9, 2001, in
Brussels by the EU Commissioner for Environmental Affairs, Margot
Wallström, in her role as organizer of the overall competition
held between twelve European states.
