Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is continuing to expand
its leading position on the world market. At this year's
largest US trade fair for the graphic arts industry, Graph Expo
2000 (September 24 - 27, 2000, Chicago), Heidelberg received orders
in excess of 185 million Euro. "With its member states the
USA, Mexico and Canada, NAFTA is the world's largest domestic
market. For Heidelberg, the American free-trade zone plays a key
role - in the last fiscal year (1999/2000), we achieved 33 percent
of our group sales there", explains Chairman of the Management
Board Bernhard Schreier.
The success in Chicago is particularly pleasing, especially
after the record figures already achieved at drupa (May 18 - 31,
2000, Düsseldorf). It confirms once again the company's
new strategic alignment as a solution provider for the entire
printing and publishing industry. The company was also delighted
with the number of visitors. Practically every one of the 46,000
guests at Graph Expo visited the Heidelberg stand.
Heidelberg's portfolio at Graph Expo included complete
solutions tailored to the precise needs of its customers. These
included printing presses, but also prepress and postpress
products, software, consumables and services. Excellent orders were
received in all sectors.
For the first time in North America, Heidelberg has
introduced its digital color printing press NexPress 2100.
Heidelberg will be launching the four-color digital press,
developed in a joint venture with Kodak, onto the market over the
course of next year. Customers' responses were overwhelmingly
positive and highlight Heidelberg's commitment to digital
printing.
