We Work Hand in Hand |

Markus Leva, Design Developer
Thrown in at the deep end but not left alone. You start - and already you are right in the thick of things. Straight after my dissertation, submitted for my diploma, I took over design responsibility for the subassembly of a printing press at Heidelberg. I was thrown in at the deep end, yet right from the start I had the chance to interact and exchange ideas with my colleagues and other members of staff. The cooperation with specialists from other departments was very fruitful.
Now I'm a project manager. I like this kind of work, as I see myself as a generalist who brings together specialists from different departments with the aim of finding the ideal solution to the challenges of a particular project.

My part in the project's success consists of communicating, integrating, continuously putting new solutions on the table and creating a non-competitive climate without hierarchy, where everyone enjoys working and making his or her special contribution. For every single detailed problem I have a professional or a specialist available at Heidelberg whom I can talk to. The details themselves are only of interest to me if they add a piece to the puzzle and help me move towards a convincing overall solution.

Heidelberg's 250 support centers in 170 countries and a team of over 7,500 sales staff, 4,500 of which are service technicians, mean we have the most compre- hensive sales and service network in the entire indus- try. Heidelberg generates 85 percent of its sales through its own sales companies and achieves around 87 percent of its sales abroad.
