The Solution Provider: Transformation in the Nineties
The great innovation of drupa 1995 is the Quickmaster DI. It is the
first pure offset machine, which allows for printing plates to be
imaged directly in the machine. But Heidelberg not only presents
new technologies at the trade show. It also introduces a new
program that is to set the company's path for the future: the
transformation from traditional printing press manufacturer to
solution provider for the entire print media industry. Takeovers
and joint ventures accompany this evolution which enables
Heidelberg to reposition itself outside of pure press
manufacturing.
Unprecedented New Standards
In a highly competitive business environment, permanent availability of machinery is increasingly important for printers. Since September 1999, the Heidelberg Group's inter- national service network can resort to the Global Logistics Center in Wies- loch for around-the-clock support and shipment of service parts. Printers in Europe can rely on 24-hour delivery of service parts.
