Kennesaw, Ga. - Print shops that utilize
Heidelberg's Prinect Pressroom Manager to control production and
manage production data now have the ability to connect with the
Pace and Monarch print production and management solutions from
EFI. Heidelberg will demonstrate the interface on its stand (1200)
at Print 09 next month.
The Print 09 demonstration will show bidirectional JDF/JMF
presets and job costing information between Heidelberg Prepress
Manager and Pressroom Manager and the EFI Monarch and EFI Pace
systems. Attendees will see how a JDF input from an EFI system can
automatically create a Prinect Production job, assign a workflow
plan to that job, and fill the job with rich job administrative and
production data useful for the Integrated and seamless Prepress,
Press and Postpress production system. Then, as production starts,
JMF provides production status milestones to EFI Monarch and EFI
Pace, and collects job costing data at job completion.
Coordinated Data Exchange Streamlines Production
The better the coordination of a company's interfaces,
the more efficiently it operates. Prinect is a powerful, open
system, facilitating the coordinated data exchange using a
standardized JDF/JMF interface to industry software systems (MIS)
or a CIP4/PPF interface to various prepress workflow systems.
Prinect Pressroom Manager is the central management system for the
pressroom, making it possible to react rapidly, directly and
flexibly to changing requirements. Prinect Pressroom Manager
communicates information intelligently so that print jobs are
automatically available at the right press at the right time,
substantially increasing productivity. Thanks to the efficient use
of preset data, makeready times and waste at the press are
significantly reduced.
"We continue to experience a growing demand from our
customers for the kind of seamless JDF integration that will give
them the ability to see if jobs have been profitable or not," said
Ray Cassino, Director of CtP and Prinect Products for Heidelberg
USA. "Prinect Pressroom Manager is the best way to gather live,
accurate production data from the presses that can be fed into all
JDF-certified MIS systems. The combination of EFI's new workflow
products with the availability of Heidelberg Pressroom Manager
makes for an ideal solution."
"EFI and Heidelberg have been working together closely to
further refine the integration of our Monarch and Pace systems with
Heidelberg Prinect, and are pleased to announce the availability of
the interface to both EFI and Heidelberg customers, concurrent with
Print 09," said Marc Olin, Senior Vice President and General
Manager, Advanced Professional Print Software, EFI. "We encourage
customers to visit the Heidelberg booth to view a demonstration and
see for themselves how this collaboration delivers enhanced
workflow efficiency and a decisive competitive advantage."
