Installation Shows Commitment to Educating Printers on Most
Advanced Sheetfed Technologies
KENNESAW, Ga. - Heidelberg recently added a Speedmaster CD
102 six-color press with UV capabilities to its 33,000-square-foot
Print Media Demonstration Center (PMDC) in Kennesaw, Ga. This new
addition allows customers and other PMDC visitors to view the
popular press in action and experience first-hand the benefits of
automation along with the most perfectly integrated ultra-violet
(UV) capabilities. One of the most sought-after technologies in
Heidelberg's portfolio, the Speedmaster CD 102 provides numerous
advantages for printers.
Equipped with UV, conventional and hybrid capabilities, the
Speedmaster CD 102 shown in the PMDC currently is being used for
weekly demonstrations as well as pre-training for customers who
have purchased the press. Jobs running on the machine include a
broad range of high-level packaging materials. To further
illustrate Heidelberg's commitment to education within the print
media industry, plans are underway for specific UV customer
programs to be held in the PMDC, which would include demonstrations
on the newly installed press. The first of these events is
scheduled for the Fall of 2005.
"Heidelberg is committed to educating today's printers on the
latest in sheetfed technology advancements to help them save time
and money," said Heidelberg USA President James Dunn. "With the
addition of a Speedmaster CD 102 to our PMDC, we are giving
printers and others in the industry access to a best-in-class press
designed to help them succeed in the marketplace."
The versatile Speedmaster CD 102, along with the Speedmaster
XL 105 (the most productive sheetfed press ever designed) and the
Speedmaster SM 102 (the industry's leading perfecting press),
provide the most comprehensive range of dedicated 40-inch print
production options. Together, they represent the absolute benchmark
for all other 40-inch presses available to the market.
Shown with new enhancements at drupa 2004, the Speedmaster CD
102 offers a broad range of benefits for all types of printers. Key
features of the press include a high degree of automation for
increased efficiency and preset functions designed to reduce manual
set-up work and ensure ease of operation. Digital integration into
print shops' workflow means that jobs can be processed in due time.
Equipped with "Plus" options, the latest technologies and ergonomic
refinements, the Speedmaster CD 102 is the most productive press in
its format class.
"The installation of the Speedmaster CD 102 in Heidelberg's
PMDC marks another milestone in the long and prosperous history of
the flagship press," said Hans Boernke, vice president, product
management 70 x 100, Heidelberg. "The press was designed with
customers in mind and is available in a wide range of models to
meet varying customer needs. The high degree of automation and
integration into the workflow provide a competitive advantage for
printers."
Unveiled in May and located at the Heidelberg North American
headquarters in Kennesaw, Ga., the Heidelberg PMDC is a
state-of-the-art facility that houses a wide range of Heidelberg
prepress, press and postpress equipment. The PMDC is the largest
Heidelberg demonstration center in the world dedicated to the print
media industry. The center features the latest technologies for
today's printers and will serve as the venue for hands-on tutorials
on a full range of prepress, press and postpress equipment and
workflow solutions that are designed to help printers achieve
increased efficiency and profitability.
