Kennesaw, Ga. - Impressions Printing, a small commercial print
shop located in Oklahoma City, announced today that it has
installed a four-color Printmaster PM 52 sheetfed press with
perfector and a Prosetter 52 from Heidelberg to meet customer
demand and increase efficiencies. The shop also has added
Heidelberg consumables products with the Prosetter 52, including
Saphira Violet aluminum plates, Saphira Violet Pro chemistry and
proofing paper.
Established in 1996, Impressions Printing has grown
exponentially within the past five years. During this time, the
company has made wise investments in technology in order to remain
competitive in the small format market.
"We are a progressive shop that wants to stay abreast of
current technology," said Vice President Jason McWilliams. "We
continue to expand and acquire new equipment as customer demand
increases. The installation of Heidelberg's new Printmaster PM 52
was instrumental in expanding our capabilities and increasing our
productivity."
The Printmaster PM 52 is specifically geared towards the
needs of small and medium-sized print shops wishing to grow their
business in multicolor offset printing. This flexible press meets
all requirements by combining a broad spectrum of models, available
from one to five printing units, with a sturdy and reliable design
as well as an intuitive operating concept. In addition, a variety
of optional features allow for improved press performance and
decreased makeready.
"For printers who want to reach the next level in quality and
productivity, the Printmaster PM 52 offers many high performance
features as standards, such as an extremely reliable stream feeder,
oscillating form rollers, a strong inking unit and an easy press
control," said Joerg Daehnhardt, Heidelberg product management,
small format. "Additionally, printers can add automated
options on the press, including Autoplate, a fully automated
perfector, the remote console "Prinect Classic Center"
for ink key and register control and blanket washers. These
customizable options allow for an individual press configuration so
that shops like Impressions Printing have a comprehensive package
to ensure their clients get the highest quality product
possible."
With the purchase of the new equipment, Impressions Printing
recently renovated its facility, adding 1,350 square feet to its
production space to accommodate the four-color press and the new
business that McWilliams anticipates it will bring to the shop.
"The new press allows us to keep all of our work in-house,
which we were not able to do before," said McWilliams. "Now, we can
fulfill existing customer demand with ease and pursue incoming
sales leads that will contribute to the growth of our company."
McWilliams reports that the addition of the new Prosetter 52
computer-to-plate, or CtP, system combined with the new press has
resulted in a 60 percent decrease in makeready times. Designed to
upgrade easily from semi-automatic to fully automatic plate loading
for growing businesses, the Prosetter 52 can produce up to 20
plates per hour at 2,540 dpi. With Heidelberg's Saphira Violet
plates and Saphira Violet Pro chemistry and proofing paper, the CtP
device achieves optimum performance and produces a high quality
product with fast roll up and consistency.
Since the installation, Impressions Printing has eliminated
film completely and switched from polyester plates to Saphira
Violet aluminum plates, improving the quality of work. In addition,
the press operators have become more efficient on their makereadies
since eliminating the need to tweak registration after hanging the
plates on the press.
Impressions Printing currently houses 26 employees and
services a client base of local and national accounts, including
private universities, financial institutions, manufacturers and
religious organizations. The recent acquisition of the new press
and CtP system marks the shop's first purchase of Heidelberg
equipment.
"We were considering purchasing equipment from other
companies," said McWilliams. "However, Heidelberg's proven track
record with four-color presses and the features on the Printmaster
PM 52 were far superior to any other machine on the market. In the
end, we felt that Heidelberg's premium quality equipment would
allow us to remain productive for a very long
time."
