Compuset Printing and Graphic Solutions Integrated Workflow Complements Canadian Premiere Installation of Heidelberg Suprasetter CtP System
08/10/2005
Montreal, Quebec - Since 1979, award winning Compuset Printing and
Graphic Solutions have been committed to leadership in print
technology.
Strong customer focus has naturally fuelled the growth of
Compuset, which led to the recent acquisition of the Canadian
premiere installation of the Heidelberg Suprasetter computer to
plate system, to complement their extensive integrated
workflow. Their recent new technologies were introduced to
move closer to a seamless computerized production and provide an
even higher level of output and increased customer service.
"At Compuset, we take full responsibility for our customers'
projects from disk to distribution", states Kevin Cross,
President. "However, despite our commitment to technology, we
have never forgotten that good old fashion service, quality and
value are the cornerstones of any business".
With the implementation of the Suprasetter S105 at Compuset,
plate quality and production has become even more
enhanced. Compuset's Suprasetter is equipped with an Internal
Punch, Single Cassette Loader and On-line Processor. Even
with little human intervention, the Suprasetter delivers the
highest register accuracy for their presses. Industry leading
technological advancements of the Suprasetter allow for extreme
reliability. The Intelligent Diode System allows the lasers to
continue successfully imaging even if a diode fails. This results
in Compuset not having any downtime or loss of performance as a
result of diode failure. Also, the Suprasetter has a large depth of
focus automatically compensating for any plate imperfections and a
temperature stabilizer to keep the climate inside the device at a
constant level, preventing any register inaccuracies. All of
which make it easy to consistently produce quality plates for the
presses. Therefore, as production increases, service and
operating costs can be kept to a minimum, offering greater
efficiencies for their customers.
"In our continuing effort to maintain our leadership
positioning in the printing industry, the acquisition of the
Suprasetter S105 is a major step forward to sustaining our goal,"
stated Bill Maitland, Director of Operations.
"The ability to be able to make plates for repeat jobs with
the touch of a button and knowing that you are ensured quality and
consistency every time gives us an advantage in today's market. The
plates being punched and ready for the press complements our press
register system, resulting in reduced make-ready time. The
flexibility to supply different curves to compensate for different
stocks and substrates to match our proofs is a huge plus…no
surprises during press approvals. Downtime on presses for
plate remakes due to worn or scratched plates is kept to a
minimum. Even the press crews working around the clock or on
weekends can make a plate almost instantaneously. We are
confident knowing that our downtime is minimized, so that we can
honour our commitments to our clients. Our capability to
consistently output high quality printing plates in about three
minutes to complement our presses… priceless!"
Compuset's commitment to technology made Heidelberg's Prinect
environment a perfect fit. By implementing Prinect's JDF/CIP4
workflow, Compuset has been able to manage their complete
production digitally from estimating to finishing.
Efficiencies become evident by eliminating the redundancies of
re-entering data from one system to another.
Prinect Prinance is used to generate the estimate as well as
order confirmation. Job Dockets are generated digitally and
passed on to Production Departments.
Prinect Printready System is a fully automated PDF workflow,
multi-tasking processes and jobs that prepress assign with extreme
accuracy and speed. Printready allows the Prepress Operators
to manage their work and the system from a fully functional Cockpit
on their own Macintosh or PC workstation. The Cockpit works
interactively with both the imposition software, Prinect Signa
Station and Prinect Meta Dimension, the rip that initiates colour
managed proofs and press-ready plates.
Finally, the presetting data generated through Compucut, is
also fed seamlessly through the Prinect workflow. Prinect
Signa Station creates the layout for the sheet and Compucut
interprets the applicable cutting sequence and parameters for the
automatic programming of their POLAR 137ED Cutting System.
"We are excited to introduce these new technologies to our
dedicated staff. These proactive changes in our processes as a
result of our customer focus will make us even more competitive in
both the Canadian and US marketplace" says Carol Wood, Vice
President. "Our efficient Compuset team is committed to
providing support to our clients and we pride ourselves on being
friendly, easy to work with and very responsive to our customers'
needs. Our niche is simple, consistent award winning quality."
