Entire Printing Increases Productivity with Printmaster PM 52,
Prosetter 74
KENNESAW, Ga., - Entire Printing, a small commercial print
shop located in Santa Clara, Calif., announced today that it has
installed a four-color Printmaster PM 52 sheetfed press with
perfector and a Prosetter 74 to expand both sheetfed and prepress
capabilities within the shop and to keep up with the latest
technology trends.
President Alex Long purchased Entire Printing two years ago
and has set out to modernize the shop's equipment in order to
maintain a competitive edge. With the addition of the shop's first
four-color press and the transition to computer-to-plate, or CtP,
technology, Long has noted a significant increase in productivity.
"Since the installation, our printing capacity has doubled,
and the quality of our work has improved dramatically," Long said.
"We added the new equipment with the goal of meeting growing
customer demand and increasing efficiency. So far, we've put two
million impressions on the new press and increased our profit
margin by 30 percent."
The Printmaster PM 52 is specifically geared towards the
needs of small and medium-sized print shops wishing to grow their
business in multicolor offset printing. This flexible press meets
all requirements by combining a broad spectrum of models, available
from one to five printing units, with a sturdy and reliable design
as well as an intuitive operating concept. In addition, a variety
of optional features allows for improved press performance and
decreased makeready time. Printers can select automated features to
meet their own specialized needs.
For printers who want to reach the next level with the
Printmaster PM 52, the stream feeder, oscillating form rollers, a
strong inking unit and an easy press control are standard features
- matching functionality and print quality of larger presses.
Additional automated options include Autoplate, the remote console
"Prinect Classic Center" for ink key and register
control, blanket washers and fully automated perfecting.
While the installation of the four-color press has expanded
Entire Printing's capabilities, Long reports that the new CtP
system has streamlined printing processes and increased
profitability as well. The Prosetter 74, by handling up to 24
plates per hour, can cope with even the highest throughput
requirements. In addition, the machine is designed to upgrade
easily from semi-automatic to fully automatic plate loading, for
growing businesses such as Entire Printing. Long chose to install a
Prosetter 74 rather than a Prosetter 52 in order to supply plates
for the new press and an existing two-color, 29-inch Heidelberg
SORM-Z press. Although he plans to continue using the older
Heidelberg press, Long hopes to shift a significant amount of work
over to the new 20-inch Printmaster PM 52.
"The Prosetter has enabled us to improve productivity
dramatically by allowing for quicker turnaround time due to ease of
setup," said Long. "With the new computer-to-plate system in place,
we now have an opportunity to pursue sales leads and grow our
business."
Currently, the shop uses the new equipment to produce
projects ranging from color brochures to postcards to technical
manuals. Initially established in 1983, Entire Printing is a small,
general commercial printer specializing in work for companies in
the high-technology industry.
"Anyone in this industry knows that in order to remain
competitive, your shop must be equipped with cutting-edge
technology," said Long. "We look to Heidelberg to supply us with
state-of-the-art equipment that will increase our bottom line."
