Inc Dot staff are "giddy with excitement" as their Heidelberg
Linoprint C 751 digital press is due for delivery this month. The
York company is switching from Xerox to Heidelberg with this
purchase.
"We looked at our options and the Linoprint C 751 was more cost-effective and, on a blind test comparing prints from two different machines, the staff voted the work from the Linoprint C 751 the better quality," says managing director Pascha Turnbull.
Pascha's father, John, started his print business in 1979, and Pascha followed by setting up her company in 2001, and has few regrets believing there is plenty of work if you offer the right service levels. She has built up a design and print company which produces everything from "a business card for the local plumber through to a 900 page full colour manual for the Environment Agency". Much of Inc Dot's work is from the home town of York.
"We like the fact the new press is from Heidelberg, which is a quality name and a trustworthy brand. We already have their litho presses so if they recommend this digital device we are happy to go with it," she says.
Just where the split between litho and digital lies is not a straightforward matter and various factors, including speed of delivery and extent as well as run length have to be factored in. The decision always has to be based on best service to meet the client's needs but Pascha envisages the Linoprint
C 751 handling many jobs which previously would have been printed on the litho presses.
The Linoprint C 751 has been specified with large capacity feeders and an online stapling finisher. The company primarily finishes offline as it already has an extensive bank of equipment and is adding some further Morgana kit shortly.
"Customers will be benefit from an even faster and better service when this press is installed" says Pascha.
