Scottish Suprasetter Marks Switch to Thermal CtP

13.02.2006

Allander in Edinburgh is switching CtP systems, taking a Suprasetter 74 from Heidelberg because of its compatibility with ImageControl when linked up through PrintReady and Prepress Interface workflow software.

"We hadn't had thermal before but we are happy to switch because it fits our type of printing. It's reliable, clean and environmentally acceptable," says sales and marketing director Alan Walker.

The Suprasetter has three hungry presses to feed including a ten-colour long perfector so Allander has opted for the multi-cassette loading device which allows a number of plates to be output with the system unattended.

The closed loop colour is being calibrated through a Print Colour Management programme which creates an established centre by ensuring all components in the colour chain from the press back are working in tandem and to preset criteria.

FM Satin Screening, a means of using variable size of dots as well as volume of dots to determine the colour replication, will be offered to customers increasing the suite of services the Scottish company can provide.

Allander supplies a range of general commercial work for print management companies, designers, agencies, universities and educational bodies along with a variety of other businesses. It can handle full colour brochures, books, Report & Accounts and magazines.

"In a tough market you have to get your productivity right and meet the speed and efficiency demands that exist today," says Mr Walker.
