United States publication, IndustryWeek, ranks Heidelberg as one
of best managed companies in the world.
Heidelberg joins other top companies in the world
including ABB, IBM, Nokia and Porsche as one of IndustryWeek's top
managed companies in the world.
"We are pleased to be included with other leading global
companies on IndustryWeek's list," said Bernhard Schreier, CEO
of Heidelberg. "This award affirms our commitment to our
customers and the print media industry."
IndustryWeek looked at a variety of considerations in the
selection process. "These companies not only consistently
demonstrate an ability to grow sales and profits; they also invest
in their employees, new technologies, the environment, safety, and
their local communities", said John Brandt, publisher and
editor-in-chief of IndustryWeek. "Faced with consolidation,
the challenges of globalization, and a quickening pace of change,
our elite group of winners is poised to outperform their
competitors far into the new millennium."
Candidates for the World's 100 Best-Managed Companies
were drawn from the IndustryWeek 1000, a list of the world's
largest publicly held manufactu- ring companies based on data
compiled by Waltham, Massachusetts-based Primark Corp. Best-Managed
Companies winners from 1999 along with more than 100 additional
finalists were considered for the honor by a panel of international
business leaders, analysts, academicians, and IW editors. Each
nominee also was asked to complete a questionnaire detailing its
strongest performance in the areas of people, market development,
techno- logy, processes, and social responsibility. IW editors then
selected the final 100 based on the results of a proprietary
financial formula, questionnaires, company information, and
panelist votes.
This is Heidelberg's second appearance on the list, the first
being in 1999. Highlights noted by IndustryWeek include
Heidelberg's position as the leading global manufacturer of
printing machinery with sales in more than 170 countries worldwide.
