Initial configurations shipped to customers / Continuing
Prinergy support
On June 11, 2003 at the Seybold Conference in Amsterdam,
Heidelberg Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) announced the launch of
series production of the new JDF-based preprint workflow Prinect
Printready System. Following extensive field tests and an early
production phase, the company has now shipped the initial series
configurations to its customers.
"With its open workflow systems, Heidelberg is aiming to
integrate all processes from prepress to press and finishing in
order to make the overall procedure more productive and
cost-effective. The Prinect Printready System represents an
important step towards achieving this aim and its modular design
will be of particular interest also to smaller print shops",
commented Dr. Peter Leu, Head of Product Management Prinect at the
Seybold Conference. The new solution is fully modular, in line with
the basic principle of Prinect, so that customers can select
individual components and add them to the overall system depending
on their specific requirements. The Prinect Printready System
provides the opportunity to map and automate all the prepress tasks
in a freely configurable, digital workflow.
Prinergy support continues
Heidelberg also announced that service and support for the
prepress workflow Prinergy, which was developed in cooperation with
Creo, will continue after the expiry of the OEM agreement with Creo
in May of this year. However, Heidelberg is also offering very
attractive conditions to any Prinergy customer prepared to make the
switch to the Prinect Printready System.
