Speedmaster SM 52 - User Report: Rhy Druck AG
Jörg Spirig - Managing Director of Rhy Druck AG
Details
Rhy Druck AG, Diepoldsau (Switzerland): "One of our presses
- the Speedmaster
SM 52-5+D - is a piece of equipment on the highest technical
level."
Rhy Druck AG in Diepoldsau (Switzerland) was founded in 1993
as a one-man shop. Even then Managing Director Jörg Spirig
trusted Heidelberg and his first investment was a single-color GTO
46. Jörg Spirig has been working on the press himself since
the beginning. In 2000, Markus Murschetz joined Rhy Druck and is
now responsible for the prepress of the shop. Nicole Spirig and a
trainee are also part of the team.
Quality, originality and speed are the factors that Rhy Druck
wants to convince their customers with and not just the price. They
have specialized in processing different stocks such as
self-adhesive or synthetic materials, e.g. foils, rigid or soft
PVC, to stand out from their competition. Jobs that seem to be too
difficult for other print shops are exactly right at Rhy Druck AG.
In November 2005, Jörg Spirig replaced his Printmaster
GTO 52-4 with perfecting with a Speedmaster SM 52-5 with an Inline
Die Cutting unit and extraction device. This is the first press in
Switzerland with the integrated die cutting unit - printing and
finishing can now be done in one single pass. Cutting, kiss
cutting, creasing or perforating are not a problem any more and the
shop can now meet the increasing demand for finished products with
their Speedmaster SM 52-5+D. In future, the Rhy Druck AG production
team wants to focus on medium and long runs of self-adhesive
material and foils with die cutting.

In the meantime, Jörg Spirig has become an expert of the
Inline Die Cutting unit, he is absolutely thrilled with this
technology. He agreed to show his Speedmaster SM 52-5+D to other
interested customers of Heidelberg Switzerland AG and so at the end
of March 2006 more than 40 guests joined the live event at Rhy
Druck AG.
Jörg Spirig himself worked on the press to show that it
only takes a few minutes to set up a demanding die cutting job.
A four-color label job was printed, kiss cut and die cut
inline. The die cutting waste was extracted and disposed off
directly in the waste bin at full production speed.
