Are you looking for something that would give both you and your
customer's product a marketing edge? If you have a five (plus)
Colour Press with a Chamber Doctor Blade Coating Unit, it would pay
to consider the Saphira Gloss/Matt Coating Effect. You can achieve
this in one pass on a conventional, non U.V. press
How does the Saphira® Drip Off system work?
As a standard, the press form is printed using conventional
offset inks on the initial inking units. In the last inking unit, a
special oil-based, matt and colourless ink is applied to selected
matt surfaces of the printing form. A full-area dispersion coating
is then applied using a special high-gloss dispersion coating using
a dedicated coating unit. This dispersion coating is diffused into
fine particles in all areas on the press sheet that have already
been coated with the matt ink. Thus, visual glossy areas only
appear in the non matt areas and the desired matt/gloss effect is
achieved. As an additional benefit, the fine gloss particles
provide a rub resistant coating to the matt surfaces.
Saphira® Drip Off Matt Varnish for the last inking unit
and Saphira® Drip Off Gloss dispersion Coating for the coating
unit can also be used separately as a normal Matt Varnish, and as a
normal gloss aqueous coating.
Until the end of June Heidelberg is offering special pricing
on these unique products and of course we can provide assistance
and advice on how to use the products and create this unique
effect.
