Following the success of the nation-wide Women in Print events held
during March, Heidelberg has announced that a second major function
- the Heidelberg Women in Print Breakfast - will take place on
Thursday, 28th May in Melbourne during PacPrint 09.
The Heidelberg Women in Print dinners have become an annual
industry highlight and an important support network for women
across the print media sector in Australia. Similar events are also
held in New Zealand by PINZ and are supported by Heidelberg and
others through sponsorship.
The Heidelberg Women in Print events this year sold out,
attracting nearly 400 attendees to the functions held in Sydney,
Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
"It's encouraging to have so many people on board supporting
Women in Print, especially considering the current economic
climate. It continues to prove to Heidelberg that establishing
women in print in Australia is a truly worthy initiative," stated
Glenn Plummer, GM of Product Management and Marketing at
Heidelberg. Adding, "It is also good that women from all walks of
life in our industry participate and fantastic to see so many young
women involved, which is a great sign for the future of our
industry".
Another strong sign for the initiative is the continued
commitment from sponsors, and in particular the three major
sponsors; Bluestar Print Group, Heidelberg and GEON, without them
Women in Print would struggle to survive. "The local patrons do a
fabulous job" says Plummer. "Susan Heaney, Karen Goldsmith,
Belinda Baker, Lisa Bailey, and Carolyn Cagney along with
Heidelberg's Angeline Wyatt and Georgie Grabyn put an enormous
effort in to staging the events and we are grateful to them and
their companies for enabling them to devote the time" he adds.
The 2009 events held during March featured key note speaker
Emanuel Perdis from the exclusive Australian cosmetics brand,
'Napoleon Perdis'. Perdis shared his true 'rags to riches'
story about building an $80 million cosmetic empire with his
brother Napoleon. His inspiring story delivered the key message
that you can achieve anything regardless of your industry, just as
he and his brother were able to do. All attendees at this year's
events received a complimentary Napoleon Perdis goody bag.
The major highlight and real focal point of the Women in
Print events was that attendees had the opportunity to catch up
with colleagues, establish contacts and build new business
relationships. Many attendees also brought along their clients,
which reinforced the worthiness and quality of the events. A key
outcome is that a number of women have agreed to meet on a less
formal basis to share their experiences and ideas which can only
help to strengthen the contribution women make to the print media
sector.
Any women planning to go to PacPrint this year should set
aside a couple of hours to attend the Heidelberg Women in Print
Breakfast. More information will be available by the end of April,
but in the meantime anyone not already on the Heidelberg Women in
Print mailing list should register now. Please visit:

remember to let your female colleagues know about the upcoming
Heidelberg Women in Print Breakfast and these great network
opportunities.
