Heidelberg's Speedmaster SM 102 has dominated the 70 x 100cm-format
market since the introduction of long perfectors back in 1994.
There are currently more than 1,500 of these presses with eight or
more printing units installed worldwide, and over seventy installed
in Australia and New Zealand alone.
At drupa 2008, Heidelberg introduced the next generation of
long perfectors - the new Speedmaster XL105 with perfecting. The
XL105-P's fully automatic perfecting device and comprehensive
automation of numerous process steps will appeal to customers who
are looking to minimize makeready times and increase productivity
levels. The new high performance 'Prinect Press Center' control
station and the all new 'Sheetfed Control' press control system
allow for simple and central press control. The press' innovative
'Intellistart' process-oriented guidance system also helps the
operator deliver shorter makeready times during job changes.
Late last year, Heidelberg Australia and New Zealand (HAN)
installed the very first XL105-P in Australia at the Print
Media Academy in Melbourne. The press is also fitted
with Heidelberg's new 'Inpress Control', which allows for the
adjustment of colour and registration on the run, without stopping
the machine.
The Peak Performance Class press has since shown astounding
results with increased productivity of over 35% compared to the
2004 generation SM102-P. Along with the increased productivity,
XL105-P preset capabilities allow the operator to go from 0.03mm
stock to 0.6mm at the touch of a button, with no manual adjustments
required.
The next generation in long perfectors is now ready for
demonstrations, so if you would like to see the XL105-P in action,
please contact your account manager or Heidelberg directly.
