Staff Profile: Denise Painter
Name: Denise Painter
Position: Office Administrator
How long have you been working at Heidelberg? 27 years
Tell us about your hobbies?
Love Cross stitch, gardening, fishing, movies, dining out
& being with the Family
What is your favorite place and why?
The Weiti River. My parents own a bach (Holiday home)
right on the water's edge. I have so many happy memories from my
childhood and now my children love it too
The most challenging experience you've had?
A couple of years ago I organised a caving event for the
social club. They said that a little way in was a small tunnel that
you have to crouch down to walk though otherwise you could walk
normally throughout the whole cave system. It turned out you
had to slide down a hole that was only a body width wide into a
small cave and then lay on your stomach and drag yourself through
the water in the dark for about 10 meters that lead into a giant
cavern full of beautiful limestone formations. I'm claustrophobic
but I did it.
Describe a typical day at work
With such a small admin team I wear many different hats,
Equipment Sales admin, IT Support, managing cars, mobile phones,
insurance, shipping, travel, building maintenance, social club
etc. I normally start the day thinking I know exactly
what I'd be doing and end up having a very busy day and by the end
of the day still have not quite got to all the things I'd intended.
What qualities do you have that improve customer
satisfaction?
My experience & knowledge having worked in many different
areas of our business. I am always happy to assist where ever
I can. If I can't help then I'll make sure I pass it on to
the correct person to follow it up.
What do you like best about working at Heidelberg?
The staff & the variety of work. I can't ever say
I'm bored.
The most memorable moment at Heidelberg?
Helping to set up the company from scratch in 1981 and then
reaching our 25 years anniversary to find I'm only the second women
to ever get on the 25 years Board.
What would you be doing if you didn't work for
Heidelberg?
Retired and helping out my family.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Hopefully enjoying life to the full with family &
friends.
