Stitchmaster ST350 Offers End-to-End Process and Quality Monitoring

Highest quality saddle stitched products with minimal waste is assured with Heidelberg's ST350 saddle stitcher.

Even before the products enter the stitching unit they are checked for correct book length and knock-up to ensure perfect alignment for images that are printed over two signatures.
Book thickness is checked by a lateral caliper which can be set to measure the book at any point along the spine length. In addition, a +/- tolerance can be set to compensate for any variation in paper thickness.

Missing stitches are detected and the book rejected for re-processing.

Sequential stopping and starting means that the first and last book out of the ST350 are complete thus reducing the need for de-collating incomplete copies.

Even the cover feeder has a double sheet detector to avoid damage to the feeder in case of several covers being fed due to set-off.

Automatic synchronisation of the feeders to the gathering chain, an exclusive ST350 feature, reduces make-ready by up to 38% by eliminating time consuming fine tuning upon start-up or whenever the production speed is varied.

The ST350 together with other Heidelberg post press equipment is available for demonstration in our Print Media Academy.
