Staff Profile: Sarah Keating
Name: Sarah Keating
Position: "Acting" HR Manager
How long have you been working at Heidelberg?
Just over 2 and ½ years
What did you do before joining Heidelberg?
Worked in a HR role for Coca-Cola Amatil.
Tell us about your hobbies?
Catching up with Friends, socialising, yoga, walking, and
eating!
What is your favorite place and why?
Malta. My mother is from there and I visited last year.
It was very special to see where my heritage lies.
Your favorite movie and why?
Most of the times I can't sit still to watch a movie and if I
do, I usually fall asleep! I do enjoy movies that are based on a
true story.
The most challenging experience you've had?
I can't pinpoint one, but have had many both personally and
at work.
Describe a typical day at work
As the old cliché goes, there is no such thing as a
typical day. A lot of things come up during the day which
need to be attended to immediately, whether it is providing HR
advice and support, supplying information, recruitment, dealing
with people issues, keeping up with employment legislation changes,
coordinating training with external providers, HR projects
(Employee Opinion Survey, Employee Review process) preparing
announcements etc The list goes on….
What qualities do you have that improve customer
satisfaction?
Being in the role that I am I deal mostly with internal
customers. I hope that I have good relationship building skills,
interpersonal skills and I've been told that I'm a good
listener. Also, I think it is very important that you deliver
on what you say you are going to.
What do you like best about working at Heidelberg?
Where do I start? First and foremost the people.
They make coming to work a joy every day, secondly the variety and
challenges that arise on a daily basis. I love the buzz of working
here.
The most memorable moment at Heidelberg?
I've had many! More recently being given the
opportunity to become "Acting" HR Manager for the duration of
Georgie Grabyn's maternity leave.
What would you be doing if you didn't work for
Heidelberg?
I suppose working in a HR role with another organisation, but
probably not getting the learning opportunities and experience that
I get here.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Definitely in HR. Its where my passion lies!
