Alice Springs Printer Benefits from New Technology
Jeremy Bigg, Manager of Coleman's Printing in Alice Springs is a
happy man. In the past twelve months he's orchestrated the
company's move into custom-built premises and seen the installation
of a new Heidelberg Printmaster 52-4 colour press.
But the "biggest thing that's ever happened to Coleman's in
Alice Springs" is the installation of a new CtP system - the
Suprasetter A52 - which Jeremy says has streamlined workflow and
improved productivity far beyond his expectations.
"Our investments with Heidelberg have been like a breath of
fresh air for the business and have been nothing but beneficial" he
says.
Located in one of the most remote commercial centres in
Australia Coleman's celebrated its 21st year in The Alice in
2007. The company is a general jobbing printer producing work
for a wide gamut of customers from tourism operators and government
departments to companies and businesses from the outlying region.
Coleman's Printing, which also has an operation in Darwin,
has always been an adopter of new technology. "We've never
let our remote location impact on our objectives to work with the
best equipment. Working with new technology has not only
improved our turnover, but it has also given our staff an
opportunity to upgrade their skills."
Jeremy says the user-friendly nature of the Suprasetter has enabled
the company to train multiple staff members on the machine
delivering greater flexibility in the workplace.
"Looking back on our old pre-press processes I wonder how we
got through, they seem so outdated. Quality has improved and
because we're now doing everything in-house we've eliminated the
issues associated with outsourcing. Productivity is up and
the working environment is so much better."
And he cannot praise the service and support the company has
received from Heidelberg more highly. "Our location is no
issue to Heidelberg. On the rare occasion when we haven't
been able to fix a problem over the phone, a technician has flown
in to get us back on track. We've bought machinery from other
companies who have just left us to our own devices. I can't
thank the Heidelberg team enough for the support they show
us. They've been outstanding."
